The Sustaining Engineer will support the current ENVEA UK Ltd range of products throughout their lifecycle.  This role will provide support for component obsolescence, resolve issues, implement design changes brought on by legislation and regulation and will be involved in continuous improvement.

The Sustaining Engineer will also be involved in assisting with production line issues and supporting the Supply Chain department with supplier quality.

Reports To: Sustaining Manager in the Engineering Department


  • Evaluate changes requested to the ENVEA UK Ltd range of legacy products
  • Prioritise changes and raise the appropriate change notes, working closely with the Sustaining Team to expedite and close change notes, reporting critical issues to the Engineering management
  • Problem solve and recommend viable solutions to the changes that are proposed and come up with alternative solutions
  • Ensure solutions meet fit, form and function requirements
  • Ensure value for money and that the standard for quality is met
  • Devise and execute tests to demonstrate the solution is viable and follow the procedures to validate the change
  • Use Solidworks and PDM, item masters, and BoM’s in the ERP system to ensure that development and production drawings are kept up to date
  • Support the Operations Team to recommend practical and feasible solutions to manufacturing problems
  • Work with the Quality Manager and Compliance Team to ensure changes are compliant with certifications and our quality process

Qualifications and Experience

  • HNC or equivalent in a relevant technical or engineering subject, with mechanical engineering as a primary subject
  • Significant experience in electro-mechanical product design in a manufacturing company
  • Background in mechanical engineering, with awareness of electronics and software


  • Route Cause Analysis and other problem-solving skills
  • Mechanical CAD, preferably Solid works with PDM experience
  • Appreciation of change/managing change across a business
  • Awareness of lean methodologies
  • Proficient in MS office Suite
  • Ability to prioritise own time to ensure that timescales are met
  • Have a practical mindset, with focus on how to ensure that products can manufactured efficiently

The role is based at the office in Swavesey, Cambridgeshire.

Occasional local travel may be required to perform duties.
